Ontario Fire & Emergency Services Dept. Meets Training and COVID Needs

Richmond Hill Fire and Emergency Services, a 24/7 Ontario fire and emergency department serving the community with suppression, rescue, HAZMAT and EMS and operating 9-1-1 dispatch, faced cumbersome paper-based training records and the added need for remote training and communications during COVID-19. To manage training for 185 full-time staff across five divisions and six stations, RHFES implemented Vector Solutions’ Learning Management System (Vector LMS, formerly TargetSolutions) in 2013 to replace paper files and support blended, anytime/anywhere learning.

Vector Solutions’ Vector LMS centralized digital recordkeeping, custom credentials, reporting, a bulletin board, calendar and a Return to Work program, giving leaders instant access to any training record and monthly progress reports to keep personnel on track. The platform enabled RHFES to track NFPA qualifications, simplify onboarding and recurring training, and — notably — continue a recruit class remotely during a three-week COVID exposure that otherwise might have halted training, demonstrating measurable improvements in record retrieval, visibility and continuity of operations.
