North County Dispatch Invests in Telecommunicator Training Technology

North County Fire Protection District (North Comm), which provides fire and medical dispatch services in North San Diego County, faced inefficient training management using Excel spreadsheets that left telecommunicators scrambling to meet certification and recertification requirements. To modernize and centralize their program, they adopted Vector Solutions’ Learning Management System (formerly TargetSolutions) to manage telecommunicator training, certifications, leader advancement, and compliance training.

Vector Solutions implemented a customized LMS solution that automates IAED recertification tracking (24 hours every two years), onboarding credentials with phased skill evaluations, supervisor-specific training dashboards, and a shared File Center for resources. The system now manages training for 20 full-time telecommunicators and four shift supervisors, provides at-a-glance overdue reports, consolidates all credentials/licenses/courses in one place, and leverages Vector’s course library—streamlining assignments, improving accountability, and supporting ongoing professional development.
