Large District Streamlines Professional Development with Online Courses

Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), one of the nation’s 25 largest districts with roughly 136,500 students, 20,000 employees, and 206 schools, needed an efficient, convenient, and cost‑effective way to assign and track safety, compliance, and special education training across hundreds of locations. To solve this, PGCPS adopted the Vector Training online system from Vector Solutions (formerly SafeSchools) in 2017–2018 to provide a uniform training platform for staff and volunteers.

Vector Solutions delivered the Vector Training platform plus the Special Education course library, giving staff self‑paced online modules, automated assignment and due‑date notifications, and robust reporting. In year one PGCPS completed nearly 335,000 courses and has surpassed 1,000,000 total completions; paraprofessionals completed almost 8,000 Special Education courses in 2018–19, and the district expanded access to nearly 11,000 instructional staff. Administrators report easy tracking, strong engagement (94% of paraprofessionals liked the format), and continued expansion with new parent course content from Vector Solutions.
