Billings FD Simplifies Checks and Saves $$$ in Asset Management and Inventory

The City of Billings faced a complex asset- and inventory-management challenge across its fire department—seven stations, 124 personnel and thousands of items to track—while relying on paper records for vehicle checks, maintenance, turnout gear, serial numbers, warranties and supply counts. To modernize workflows and improve accountability, the City of Billings adopted Vector Solutions’ Check It solution.

Vector Solutions implemented the Check It web and mobile app (installed on station iPads) to digitize inspections, maintenance tickets, inventory and warranty records, with photo/video attachments and real-time visibility for supervisors. The result: missing inventory shrank from “10+ pages” to a single page, faster warranty replacements and replenishment (including N95 tracking during COVID-19), clearer out-of-service reporting for City Council, and improved compliance and time savings across the department.
