Austin Peay State University, a public university in Clarksville, TN with more than 11,000 students, faced a sudden safety challenge when a campus restaurant employee received repeated prank calls culminating in a bomb threat. To rapidly notify students, faculty, and staff and maintain campus safety, APSU turned to Vector Solutions and its LiveSafe Mobile Platform.

APSU used the LiveSafe Mobile Platform’s broadcast functionality to push notifications via the LiveSafe mobile app, email, and text, alerting the community to avoid the area and enabling law enforcement to investigate. Once the area was cleared, APSU issued an “All Clear” through LiveSafe; by using Vector Solutions’ platform the university maintained real-time threat awareness, kept the campus informed and safe, and added a preferred two-way communication channel for its population.
