Software Reliability at Hypersonic Speeds

GMV supported ESA’s Intermediate eXperimental Vehicle (IXV) program by developing critical onboard guidance, navigation and control software for hypersonic re‑entry. The team needed an automated testing solution to identify, fix, and prevent code issues and to generate the evidence required to meet ECSS‑E‑ST‑40C and DO‑178 certification expectations.

GMV selected the VectorCAST automated test platform, using VectorCAST/C++ and VectorCAST/Cover for unit testing and structural coverage analysis. The toolchain enabled rigorous testing and measurable coverage, producing the evidence to support ECSS‑E‑ST‑40C and DO‑178 compliance and delivering higher‑quality software for the IXV program.
