MDS Technology achieves 83% cost reduction using VectorCAST

MDS Technology, a leading embedded solutions company in Korea, developed NEOS™ RTOS and set out to create NEOS-178B for the commercial avionics market. The project required a rigorously qualified automated test solution to meet DO-178B Level A certification under a tight schedule, so MDS sought a toolset that could deliver comprehensive code coverage and support tool qualification.

MDS adopted VectorCAST—using VectorCAST/C++ for unit testing, VectorCAST/Cover for system coverage, and a custom VectorCAST/RSP for their PPC target—gaining a high level of automation, intuitive reporting and built-in qualification artifacts. The result was an 83% reduction in testing effort (reducing estimated hours from ~11,095 to ~1,845), automated re‑execution of all test cases for DO-178B Level A, and successful certifiability of the NEOS-178B kernel.
