DO-178 Compliance for Advanced UAV Systems

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), headquartered in Ankara and developer of the ANKA MALE (Medium Altitude Long Endurance) UAV for ISR, SIGINT and communications-relay missions, faced a compressed schedule while needing to ensure its ANKA software complied with DO-178B processes across planning, requirements, design, coding and integration, using supporting development tools.

TAI adopted VectorCAST/C++ and VectorCAST/RSP (for the Green Hills tool chain) for unit and integration testing, and VectorCAST/Cover to collect structural coverage during system testing. This toolset supported their testing workflows and coverage collection, enabling the team to implement DO-178B processes and progress toward compliance within the tight schedule.
