Terumo Heart, Inc., the U.S. arm of Terumo Corporation, develops the DuraHeart™ Left Ventricular Assist System (LVAS), an implantable device that uses magnetic levitation and a centrifugal pump to support the heart. Faced with the need to improve software quality and reduce risk for this life‑saving device, Terumo aimed to meet IEC 62304 standards and demonstrate due diligence in its software development.

Terumo selected the VectorCAST platform to support continuous improvement in its software processes. The tool enabled the company to demonstrate due diligence and comply with IEC 62304 guidelines, helping to support safer, more reliable software for the DuraHeart LVAS.
