Case Study: Södra achieves fully automated dryer feeding with Vecoplan

Södra, Sweden's largest forestry association, faced the challenge of integrating a fully automated storage and dryer feeding system for its pellet production plant into an existing, space-constrained sawmill site located on boggy ground near the sea. The project required a partner who could meet Södra's stringent internal standards and navigate significant logistical and engineering hurdles to convey materials from the sawmill to a new dryer.

Vecoplan delivered a custom-engineered solution, developing a new storage system to optimally use the available space without requiring a new building. The solution included specialized conveyors, a large VecoBelt with a 2,400 m³ storage volume, and a fully automated system. This has resulted in a pellet plant that has run problem-free for years, successfully relocating the transport route and fulfilling all of Södra’s demanding requirements to their complete satisfaction.
