Case Study: Södra achieves dust-free long-distance material transport with Vecoplan

Material Transport From Sawmill to Pulp Mill

Södra, Sweden's largest forestry association, faced a challenge with the internal transport of wood by-products at its Värö site. The existing truck transport between its sawmill and pulp mill was not feasible for future capacity increases and created environmental and safety concerns. They partnered with Vecoplan to implement a dust-free conveying system to transport the material over the large, complex industrial site.

Vecoplan engineered a custom solution featuring special screw conveyors and long-distance VecoBelt pipe conveyors, which were meticulously planned to navigate the site's obstacles at height. The system successfully eliminated internal truck traffic, improving safety and reducing emissions. Since its implementation in 2016, the highly available plant has run problem-free, creating a foundation for future projects and leading to a highly satisfied customer.
