Case Study: Irish Cement Ltd. achieves reliable RDF fuel supply with Vecoplan conveying and storage technology

A Vecoplan Case Study

Preview of the Irish Cement Ltd. Case Study

Ireland’s Largest Cement Producer Relies on Vecoplan

Irish Cement Ltd., Ireland's leading cement producer, sought to convert its Platin plant to Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) in order to improve sustainability and reduce its carbon footprint. This required a completely new, high-capacity system for unloading, storing, and conveying RDF with a need for high reliability and the ability to mix different material types. They entrusted the design and implementation of this entire process to Vecoplan.

Vecoplan designed and installed a complete, closed-loop conveying and storage system engineered for high performance. The solution featured a large storage building with 5,000 m³ capacity, robust drag chain conveyors, and equipment for screening and mixing materials. The system successfully met its goal of supplying 840 tonnes of RDF daily to the kiln with high availability. The modular design allowed for a cost-effective expansion of storage capacity in 2013. Vecoplan's technology provided a hassle-free conversion to RDF, ensuring a constant, reliable fuel supply for Irish Cement.
