A Vecoplan Case Study
The customer, Gemdoubs Papierfabrik, a paper factory, required a reliable and low-maintenance fuel supply system for its new biomass CHP plant to generate energy for steam in paper production and green electricity for the grid. Their challenge was ensuring a continuous fuel supply and a sufficient storage capacity to maintain boiler operation for several days. They partnered with Vecoplan to address this need.
Vecoplan implemented a flexible system, including shredding, conveying, and storing technology, with a 6,000 m³ fuel storage capacity. This solution guaranteed a permanent material flow and allowed for the processing of various wood materials. As a result, the CHP plant now generates 153 GWh of electricity annually and saves 77,000 tonnes of CO2 per year by switching from gas to biomass. Vecoplan's system ensures a reliable supply of green energy for the factory, the local heat network, and public buildings.
