Martinos Center And Vast Data Revolutionize Imaging Research To Advance The State Of The Art In Patient Care

The Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging, part of Massachusetts General Hospital, needed a way to store and quickly access enormous volumes of raw MRI and PET scan data for hundreds of researchers using AI and deep-learning workflows. With thousands of scans each year and growing data demands, the center struggled to affordably manage multi-petabyte image datasets while keeping performance high. VAST Data helped address this challenge with its Universal Storage platform.

VAST Data implemented an all-flash, scale-out storage solution using its Disaggregated, Shared-Everything (DASE) architecture, NFSoRDMA, and support for NVIDIA DGX-A100 servers, giving the Martinos Center the performance and scalability needed for research at scale. The result was faster image analysis, elimination of legacy HDD storage and related uptime issues, and enough cost savings to fund additional GPUs for research. VAST Data’s solution also enabled the center to expand its all-flash strategy for future growth and clinical data.
