GWDG Delivers Robust AI and Data Services with the VAST Data Platform

Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbH Göttingen (GWDG), a joint IT facility for the University of Göttingen and the Max Planck Society, needed a robust data platform in 2022 to support its national AI service center and broader data management needs. To address this challenge, the organization selected the VAST Data Platform as the foundation for its next-generation infrastructure.

The solution from VAST Data provided GWDG with a highly scalable and unified storage system that consolidated multiple workloads, including AI projects, software distribution, and home directories. The results included a 2:1 data reduction ratio, zero downtime since deployment, and the ability to seamlessly scale from an initial 600 terabytes with plans to exceed a petabyte, enabling GWDG to deliver reliable AI services and simplifying its overall data management.
