Case Study: Thompson Tractor achieves print-server elimination and end-user self-service printing with Vasion

A Vasion Case Study

Preview of the Thompson Tractor Case Study

Thompson Tractor - Customer Case Study

Thompson Tractor, a regional Caterpillar dealer with more than 1,500 employees across 27 locations, faced a sprawling print environment that made reliable printer deployment and day-to-day printing support unmanageable. Group policy–based deployments were failing as the environment scaled, end users couldn’t install printers themselves, and IT lacked visibility into device status — so Thompson Tractor turned to Vasion’s print management solution (centralized management, self‑service portal and SNMP monitoring).

Vasion centralized printer management, enabled a self‑service installation portal for end users, and added real‑time SNMP monitoring across the estate. After a phased rollout to five sites Thompson Tractor eliminated two print servers to date, expects weekly printer‑related service desk calls to drop from about 20 to five or fewer, and now sees reliable, group‑based deployments and improved device visibility — delivering faster support, reduced server overhead and clear ROI.
