The Cincinnati Police Department, a 24/7 law enforcement agency with more than 1,000 officers and staff across 16 facilities, faced a critical printing outage after a print server “meltdown.” IT was overwhelmed with printer-installation and troubleshooting calls and needed an ultra-reliable print management solution. Vasion was engaged to provide a serverless print management approach that would eliminate the single point of failure caused by traditional print servers.

Vasion’s implementation removed the department’s print server, treating each device as a locally installed IP printer to ensure redundancy and continued printing even during WAN or host failures. As a result, service desk calls about printers have all but stopped, the IT team deployed almost all ~90 printers within the first day, and administrators can now push printers by AD, IP ranges or machine name—delivering clear reliability and time-savings for the Cincinnati Police Department.
