A Vasion Case Study
Lamar CISD, a fast‑growing public school district in Greater Houston serving 37,000+ students and staff across 48 sites, faced a sprawling, heterogeneous print environment of 1,100 printers and 22,000 workstations with virtually no centralized visibility. Using an outdated Novell iPrint approach, IT struggled with driver sprawl and manual installs, generating roughly 2,500 annual printer‑related helpdesk tickets and long, unpredictable resolution times. Vasion was engaged to address these challenges with its Vasion Print solution (formerly PrinterLogic).
Vasion implemented Vasion Print across the district in two business days, replacing five print servers and providing a single pane of glass, a centralized driver repository, profiling, automated deployments and self‑service installs. The impact was dramatic: print tickets fell from about 2,500 per year to three–four annually, typical ticket resolution dropped to ~8.7 hours (escalations under two hours) versus prior multi‑month waits, and projected savings grow to about $20,000 per year after year three. Vasion’s solution eliminated single points of failure and made print management scalable and predictable for Lamar CISD.
