Computer Solutions, Inc (CSI) needed a seamless way to exchange shipment and order data between its CSI Order Power order management system and carrier/shipping tools on the IBM iSeries so users could rate-shop at order entry, get instant shipment status and proofs of delivery, and capture accurate shipping costs for invoicing and analysis. To solve this, CSI used the CSI Order Power interface integrated with Varsity Logistics’ shipping solutions (ShipSoft‑Parcel, ShipSoft‑Freight, ShipPack, ShipSelect).

Varsity Logistics implemented the integrated CSI Order Power interface on the IBM iSeries, pulling order header and detail data (pick number, quantities, ship‑to, etc.), processing shipments and returning tracking numbers, package IDs, weights and freight charges back to CSI Order Power. The solution supports both "invisible" and "visible" processing modes, enabled real‑time rate shopping and shipment visibility, reduced manual entry and billing errors, and delivered superior speed, throughput and reliability; Varsity Logistics also maintains compatibility with CSI Order Power to support ongoing enhancements.
