Allen-Edmonds Finds a Shoe-in with Varsity ShipSoft

Allen-Edmonds, the handcrafted men’s footwear maker, was shipping 900–1,500 parcels a day from four distribution centers but had reached the limits of its PC-based shipping system (topping out at ~900 packages/day). Manual verification and carrier-specific workflows made shipping slow and error-prone (about five minutes per order) and left the company without real-time package status or a seamless interface to its iSeries ABS ERP. To solve this, Allen-Edmonds turned to Varsity Logistics and its ShipSoft family of products.

Varsity Logistics implemented ShipSoft-Parcel plus ShipTalk (Track and Trace), ShipSelect and other modules, integrating directly with ABS and HarrisData to provide real-time shipment visibility, multi-carrier support and automated international paperwork. The new one-step process cut processing time from roughly five minutes to under one minute per order, improved shipping accuracy and customer/employee satisfaction, automated commercial invoices/NAFTA certificates/air waybills for international orders, and scaled capacity (the system can handle up to 5,000 packages/day), delivering measurable operational and service improvements.
