Ukrainian Armed Forces reach proficiency in hours with Varjo

The Ukrainian Armed Forces faced a critical training challenge, as all operational battle tanks were deployed on the front lines, leaving soldiers to learn from PDFs with no hands-on equipment access. To address this, the Norwegian company Fynd Reality partnered with vendor Varjo, utilizing Varjo XR-4 Secure Edition headsets and Integrated XR Systems.

Varjo's solution enabled multi-user XR training via Fynd Reality's platform, allowing dispersed soldiers to train together as a full crew inside a virtual Leopard 2A4 tank. The secure, pre-configured systems were operational within two hours of delivery. In an initial deployment training 255 cadets, 65% rated the VR simulator as the most effective method, with cadets reporting learning rates 3-5 times faster than with theory alone. This allowed soldiers to achieve baseline proficiency and perform basic procedures in real tanks after short XR sessions.
