Finnish Air Force boosts pilot training with Varjo's 70+ PPD mixed reality LVC system

The Finnish Air Force sought to effectively simulate the complex cognitive load and fast-paced decision-making required of modern fighter pilots during training. They partnered with technology provider Varjo to integrate a new level of realism into their training scenarios using a Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) system and Varjo's mixed reality headsets.

The solution implemented by Varjo involved the use of their XR-3 headsets to create a highly photorealistic, immersive environment that seamlessly blended virtual elements with the real cockpit. This allowed pilots to train alongside live aircraft and ground simulators in a unified scenario. The integrated eye-tracking provided data for performance analytics. The outcome was a pioneering LVC training system that provided a new level of readiness, with the Finnish Air Force reporting very positive results and planning for further incorporation of the technology.
