Cole Engineering Services Inc powers the U.S. Army’s largest mixed reality air training deployment with Varjo

Cole Engineering Services Inc., working on the U.S. Army’s RVCT Air program, was tasked with creating a portable, forward-deployable training system to enable highly immersive simulated training for Apache, Chinook, and Blackhawk crews without the need for massive, fixed facilities. To meet this challenge, they partnered with vendor Varjo and utilized the Varjo XR-4 Secure Edition headset.

The solution implemented by Varjo provided high-resolution, mixed reality headsets that blend real-world cockpit controls with computer-generated environments, enabling soldiers to "train like they fight." The Varjo hardware is TAA-compliant, manufactured in Finland, and emits no radio frequencies, making it suitable for high-security environments. This allowed the Army to deploy the world's largest mixed reality-based air training program, significantly condensing the training footprint, reducing overall costs, and improving mission readiness through collective, scalable training.
