AXIS Flight Simulation, an Austrian company building advanced flight training solutions, faced challenges in providing effective and accessible procedural training for pilots. Traditional methods like posters and static images lacked realism and interactivity, while high-fidelity Full Flight Simulators were too costly and logistically constrained for widespread use. To overcome this, they partnered with Varjo to develop an immersive VR training solution using the Varjo XR-4 headset.

The solution implemented was the Virtual Cockpit Procedure and Walkaround Trainer (VPT), which uses Varjo's high-resolution visuals, hand-tracking, and eye-tracking to create a highly authentic and interactive virtual cockpit. It includes an AI instructor for on-demand guidance and allows pilots to practice procedures and pre-flight checks from anywhere. This Varjo-powered solution provides a more effective learning experience than classical methods, significantly enhances spatial awareness and procedural understanding, and delivers cost efficiencies by reducing the total training hours needed to achieve competence.
