Anglian Water partnered with VAPAR to tackle the costly, resource-intensive manual review of CCTV footage for wastewater pipe inspections across its large network. The utility wanted a faster, more efficient way to assess pipe condition, improve renewal prioritization, and reduce the workload involved in auditing inspection data.

Using VAPAR.Solutions, an AI-powered cloud platform that automatically assesses pipe CCTV footage, Anglian Water processed 10,000 metres of wastewater pipe inspections and digitised more than 2,200 pipe features in under four hours. The pilot showed about 80% agreement with manual assessment, potential to reduce auditing effort by up to 30%, and the opportunity to optimize renewal spending by as much as 20%, with VAPAR now being explored for broader workflow integration.
