Case Study: SoftBank builds a smart city of the future with Vantiq

A Vantiq Case Study

Preview of the SoftBank Case Study

SoftBank utilized Vantiq to build Port City Takeshiba, incorporating real-time technology into people's everyday lives

SoftBank partnered with Vantiq to create Port City Takeshiba, its new global headquarters and a real-world smart city testbed in Tokyo. The company needed a way to quickly develop and integrate real-time applications across many city functions, while orchestrating a growing mix of IoT sensors, cameras, security systems, weather data, and other connected technologies.

Using Vantiq’s real-time event-driven application development platform, SoftBank integrated 19 technologies, including AI algorithms, sensors, cameras, and web services, to power smart city experiences such as public dashboards, interactive signage, automated operations, and security monitoring. The solution helped reduce latency through edge computing, improved privacy by filtering data at the edge, and created a scalable template SoftBank can reuse for future smart city projects and rapid adaptation to new needs like pandemic-related safety measures.
