A Valtech Case Study
Transport For London, the organization managing the vast public transit network of London, faced the challenge of modernizing enterprise mobility for its 30,000 staff. The demand was driven by needs for productivity, real-time information, and remote asset control across hundreds of locations. Valtech partnered with TfL to undertake one of the UK's largest mobile transformation programs.
Valtech began with field research to map user experiences, then created a comprehensive user standards framework and a reusable Mobile Backend as a Service (MBaaS) platform to accelerate all development. Working side-by-side with TfL in an agile way, they embedded lean processes and a pipeline evaluation framework to prioritize high-ROI projects. The solution cut program-level design overheads by an estimated 20%, saved hundreds of thousands of pounds by avoiding low-value work, and established a scalable foundation, with 19 discoveries and nine construction phases completed.
