Visy Tumut Kraft Mill cuts steam use by 56 t/d with Valmet

The customer, Visy Tumut kraft mill, faced the challenge of optimizing their process performance and ensuring competitiveness. They sought to reduce energy and chemical costs, eliminate production constraints, and improve their return on investment. To address this, they worked with vendor Valmet to implement solutions including the Valmet Recovery Liquor Analyzer and Valmet Advanced Process Control.

The solution implemented by Valmet exceeded all ROI targets. The results included a production increase of 870 air-dried tonnes of paper in 40 days, daily steam savings of 56 tonnes, and an 11.5% reduction in white liquor flow. Valmet's solution also eliminated overliming, improved process stability, and significantly reduced scaling.
