A Valmet Case Study
Vantaan Energia, an energy company, faced the challenge of maintaining system balance and complying with new EU regulations that introduced a 15-minute imbalance settlement period. This significantly increased the manual workload for operators and created the risk of costly production losses. To remain competitive and capture new opportunities in reserve markets, they partnered with Valmet to implement the Valmet DNAe Energy Balance Optimizer.
Valmet implemented its DNAe Energy Balance Optimizer, a digital automation solution integrated with the plant's distributed control system. This enabled real-time control of production units, automating adjustments that were previously done manually. The solution from Valmet allowed Vantaan Energia to fully participate in electricity reserve markets, significantly reduce manual workload and production losses, and increase overall production efficiency. Operator feedback was positive as staff could now focus on higher-value tasks.
