University of Oulu measures fibers down to 1 µm with Valmet FS5

The University of Oulu's Fibre and Particle Engineering research unit faced the challenge of needing to measure cellulose micro and nano fibrillated particle dimensions and to monitor production process performance. They replaced their old technology with a new Valmet Fiber Image Analyzer (Valmet FS5) from the vendor Valmet.

The implementation of the Valmet solution was well-organized, providing immediate operational readiness. The advanced Valmet FS5 technology enabled the measurement of long fibers and particles from 1µm in size, providing new and fast data for research. The solution also featured easier measurement and sample preparation, which saved laboratory personnel time. The university reported being very satisfied with their long-term cooperation with Valmet.
