Suzano Pulp and Paper exports 80 MW of green energy with Valmet

Suzano Pulp and Paper, a major pulp and paper producer, undertook an ambitious project to build the world's most energy-efficient mega mill in Imperatriz, Brazil. The challenging climate and underdeveloped infrastructure of the region posed significant difficulties during construction. Valmet was selected as the vendor to supply the main technology for pulp production and recovery, including equipment for wood preparation, cooking, fiberline, pulp drying, evaporation, and the recovery and power boiler.

Valmet implemented its efficient technologies, such as the compact cooking G2 digester and advanced press technology, which significantly reduced steam and water consumption. This allowed the Suzano mill to generate a substantial surplus of green energy. As a result, the mill exports an average of 80 MW of electricity to the national grid, enough to power a city of one million people, while also saving fuel and reducing CO₂ emissions for its global customers.
