Södra Cell Värö readies jumbo bale delivery with Valmet's baling line upgrade

Södra Cell Värö, one of the world's largest softwood pulp mills, needed to upgrade its baling line equipment to begin delivering jumbo bales in response to customer requests. The mill turned to its long-term partner, Valmet, for a competitive solution to meet this new challenge.

Valmet delivered a comprehensive baling line upgrade solution, which included Valmet Wire Tyers, conveyors, safety equipment, and a full suite of services from assembly to commissioning. Despite project challenges, the new line was completed on time and ready for commercial operation in May 2024. The solution enabled Södra Cell Värö to successfully meet its customers' wishes for jumbo bales, with the mill reporting that the equipment works well and safely. Valmet's role was critical in executing this upgrade, continuing a decades-long partnership of modernizing the mill's operations.
