Södra Cell Värö boosts softwood pulp output to 780,000 tonnes with Valmet

Södra Cell Värö sought to increase its production capacity of softwood pulp and eliminate bottlenecks in its fiber line. The mill partnered with Valmet to enhance its brown stock washing and increase the overall production capacity from 717,000 to 780,000 tonnes per year.

Valmet delivered main machinery, basic engineering, and installation for the project, which included a TwinRoll press, a screw conveyor, and screening equipment. The solution was successfully started up six months ahead of schedule. Following a cutter rebuild also performed by Valmet, the mill achieved two world records for a softwood pulp machine, reaching a top speed of 466 air-dried tonnes per day and a total running rate of 2,608 air-dried tonnes per day.
