SCA Ortviken Paper Mill boosts dewiring to 98.5% with Valmet

SCA Ortviken paper mill faced a challenge with its existing pulp bale dewiring machines, which could not handle increasing production capacity and had poor reliability. To meet higher product requirements and enhance safety, the mill selected Valmet and its RoboCoiler dewiring machine as the solution.

Valmet implemented the RoboCoiler, which included a new safety system with fences and magnetic gates. The solution achieved a dewiring rate of over 98.5% and availability of more than 99%, drastically reducing manual work. The installation was fast and smooth, and the machine has required extremely low maintenance, allowing the mill to reliably process 1,600 bales per day.
