SCA Munksund Paper Mill cuts carbon footprint by 75% with Valmet

SCA Munksund paper mill, a kraft pulp and packaging paper producer, sought to become fossil fuel free and needed to replace its aging, fossil fuel-fired lime kiln. To meet this challenge, they turned to vendor Valmet for a new biofuel-fired lime kiln solution.

Valmet implemented a compact, biofuel-fired lime kiln that utilizes wood powder pellets. This solution allowed the mill to operate without fossil fuels, resulting in a 75% reduction in its carbon footprint. Valmet also delivered the project on time and provided economic gains by eliminating fuel costs, ensuring safe and sustainable production for the customer.
