Ranheim Paper & Board boosts cleaning efficiency with Valmet's 700 XCD cleaner plant

Ranheim Paper & Board, a paper mill in Norway, needed to replace its aging and obsolete cleaner plant for its PM6 approach flow system. The mill collaborated with vendor Valmet to find a suitable solution, which was the installation of a Valmet Hydrocyclone Cleanpac 700 XCD cleaning system designed to operate efficiently despite limited dilution water availability.

Valmet implemented a solution that simplified the process with a smaller footprint and continuous reject operation, which is beneficial for recycled fiber applications. The new cleaner plant, also manufactured with sustainable bioplastic material, increased cleaning efficiency. The results included stable operation, improved white water thickening with lower ash content for easier basis weight control, and a system that is simple to operate and maintain.
