Papierfabrik Palm boosts sizer roll cover run interval from under 100 to over 200 days with Valmet

Papierfabrik Palm, a family-owned board mill operating one of the world's largest containerboard machines in Wörth, Germany, sought to improve the performance of its machine's sizer. Their challenge was to increase the sizer's availability, reduce paper web breaks, and improve overall paper quality. To address this, they partnered with vendor Valmet.

Valmet implemented its special polyurethane Sizer Roll Cover CF, optimizing the cover's hardness and thickness for the application. The solution delivered excellent results: the roll cover's running interval increased from less than 100 days to over 200 days with nearly no wear. This led to higher machine availability, better paper quality, and significant maintenance and transportation savings, which also reduced CO2 emissions for more sustainable production.
