Papier- und Kartonfabrik Varel (PKV), a German family-owned cardboard producer, was facing a significant challenge with unexplainable vibration and barring on their PM5 paper machine. This led to extremely short running times for their sizer roll covers, which became a bottleneck for production. The customer initiated discussions with vendor Valmet to find an alternative solution.

Valmet implemented its Sizer Roll Cover CF, a wear-resistant polyurethane applicator roll cover. The solution immediately extended the cover's lifespan to over six months, eliminating barring and significantly improving production availability. By the end of 2024, PKV had equipped all sizing rolls on two production lines with Valmet's covers, confirming the outstanding results and the stability they brought to the sizer operation.
