A Valmet Case Study
Orient Paper Mills was unable to run its tissue machine and paper machine at their designed speeds due to excessive vibrations, significantly limiting production output. The tissue machine was operating at 1200 mpm instead of its target 1800 mpm, while the paper machine was running at 420 mpm instead of 585 mpm. Valmet was engaged to address these performance issues.
Valmet conducted a comprehensive mechanical audit, checking the alignment of rolls and drive shafts and performing a vibration analysis. The solution involved correcting the identified misalignments and providing recommendations for roll rebalancing. As a result, the tissue machine's speed was successfully increased to 1500 mpm with paper, yielding an average production increase of 20 tonnes per day. Valmet also confirmed the paper machine's drive capacity was sufficient for its design speed and provided a clear path to achieve it.
