The customer, Norske Skog Skogn, a major paper mill in Norway, faced a safety and efficiency challenge in the drying section of its PM2 paper machine. The problematic design led to frequent web breaks, requiring operators to manually clean and handle the paper web, which posed a severe safety risk and cost lost production time. They contacted their longtime vendor, Valmet, for a solution.

Valmet implemented a customized drying section rebuild, which involved closing the web transfer and installing a Valmet Web Stabilizer UR. This solution opened up the area, significantly improving employee safety by removing the need for manual intervention. The rebuild also increased production efficiency through simpler web threading.
