Preview of the Naini Paper Case Study

Naini Paper boosts pulp output to 370 tons per day with Valmet

Naini Paper, a paper manufacturer in India, faced a potential shortage of its traditional non-wood agro-based fibers and sought to expand its product portfolio with higher quality wood pulp. To achieve this, the customer selected Valmet as the main supplier to provide a new cooking, fiberline, recausticizing, and lime kiln system for producing bleached hardwood kraft pulp.

Valmet implemented the fiberline project, which included batch cooking equipment, multiple TwinRoll presses, and a white liquor disc filter. Despite challenges from the Covid-19 pandemic, the solution was successfully commissioned with excellent online cooperation. The results were exceptional, with the plant quickly exceeding its designed capacity to produce 370 tons per day and achieving better-than-targeted freshwater consumption of close to 9 m³ per ton. The reliability of the Valmet equipment and the smoothness of the startup were highlighted as major benefits, leading Naini Paper to subsequently order a new paper machine from Valmet.
