JK Paper Ltd boosts PM5 runnability to 700 m/min with Valmet

JK Paper Ltd, a leading Indian paper manufacturer, sought to address operational challenges of high-speed board production at its PM5 machine. The mill was experiencing inefficient web break handling, unreliable manual tail threading, and caliper variability, which impacted efficiency and product quality. To overcome these bottlenecks, they partnered with vendor Valmet for a targeted rebuild.

Valmet implemented a solution package including an automatic web cutting system in the dryer section, a new tail threading system before the curtain coater, and an induction profiler on the calender. This upgrade resulted in improved machine runnability, reduced downtime, faster break recovery, and enhanced safety through automation. The solution also provided more consistent board quality and prepared the machine for future production increases, delivering substantial performance improvements for JK Paper.
