A Valmet Case Study
Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Perawang (IKPP) faced a challenge with short regrinding intervals for their calender roll cover on the PPM3 paper machine, which was causing paper ridging and barring. The intervals averaged just 31-32 days, sometimes dropping to as low as 15 days. To address this, they worked with Valmet.
Valmet implemented its Calender Roll Cover CL, a premium composite solution designed for minimal nip deformation and high wear resistance. This solution from Valmet dramatically increased the average grinding interval to 53 days, with a maximum of 90 days. This resulted in fewer planned and unplanned roll changes, significantly reducing maintenance costs and maximizing the cover's lifetime.
