Hellefoss Book Paper AS, a Norwegian producer of high-bulk book paper, was facing operational challenges due to worn-out top slitter holders and insufficient grinding capabilities. This led to excessive rewinder downtime, slow slitter changes, and high dust levels that impacted both product quality and the working environment. To address this, they contacted vendor Valmet for a solution.

Valmet implemented a two-year Slitter Management Agreement, which included leased slitters, superfinishing sharpening, and the delivery of nine Valmet Slitter Holder Quick Change units with adapters. This solution dramatically improved Hellefoss's operational performance, significantly reducing top slitter change times and increasing slitter lifetime by 5 to 6 times. The results included improved cutting quality, reduced dust generation, less downtime, and enhanced overall rewinder efficiency.
