Federal University of Vicosa evaluates tens of thousands of fibers per sample with Valmet

The Pulp and Paper Laboratory at the Federal University of Vicosa (UFV) in Brazil needed a modern, technologically advanced solution to increase its cellulose and paper analysis range. The laboratory sought to perform fiber morphological analysis more effectively, with less time and reagent pressure, to facilitate research and improve its services. To meet this challenge, they selected the Valmet Fiber Image Analyzer (Valmet FS5) from vendor Valmet.

The Valmet solution provided high quality and reliable results with easy sample preparation, evaluating tens of thousands of fibers from a single sample. This allowed UFV researchers to acquire crucial data promptly and expand the number of services offered by the laboratory. The implementation of the Valmet FS5 strengthened the lab's relationship with industry companies and increased its visibility as one of the few such units in Latin America. Valmet supported the university with training and efficient remote support.
