ESE-Energia completes first-phase Valmet DNAe commissioning with 100% reliable district heating supply

ESE-Energia, an energy company operating the Pursiala combined heat and power plant in Finland, was modernizing its main automation system, which was based on obsolete 1990s technology. The company selected Valmet to implement its state-of-the-art Valmet DNAe Distributed Control System to enable more efficient optimization of production and the district heating network.

Valmet successfully completed the first phase of commissioning for the new system, which included the electric boiler, district heating accumulator, and a steam boiler. The results during this phase demonstrated 100% reliability in district heating supply with no significant unplanned disturbances. The Valmet DNAe system is expected to reduce fuel consumption and emissions, provide direct cost savings, and significantly reduce the need for manual process operation, with full implementation scheduled for October 2026.
