The customer, Corex (a board mill in Pori, Finland), faced a challenge with fines and impurities sticking to dryer cylinder surfaces, which weakened drying efficiency, increased energy consumption, and caused quality defects in their end product. They partnered with vendor Valmet to improve their doctoring process and meet new quality requirements.

Valmet implemented a solution that included a full doctoring audit, upgrading to self-profiling Valmet Doctor Holder Compact holders, and switching to Valmet Doctor Blade Bronze nCT blades. The results were a remarkable improvement in cleaning efficiency, easier and safer blade replacement, and cleaner cylinder surfaces that eliminated quality defects.
