CMPC completes a 10-day mill shutdown with Valmet remote support

The customer, CMPC, faced the challenge of executing a major pulp mill shutdown at its Guaíba mill in Brazil while adhering to strict pandemic restrictions that limited traditional on-site service methods. The vendor, Valmet, provided shutdown planning and execution services for the digester, bleaching, and dryer sections, utilizing remote support tools.

Valmet implemented a solution using augmented reality smart glasses to connect on-site field technicians with remote experts. This allowed for detailed real-time analysis and support without the need for physical travel. As a result of Valmet's remote services, the CMPC Guaíba mill achieved its historical record in pulp production shortly after the shutdown was completed.
