Australia’s Largest Nickel Mine improves slurry reliability with Valmet’s 160+ Flowrox pinch valves

a major Australian nickel mine was struggling with conventional slurry valves that were seizing, corroding, and failing to close after periods of inactivity. This led to frequent maintenance, operational delays, and high ownership costs. During a site visit, Valmet identified this issue and recommended its Flowrox PVEG pinch valves as a durable, low-maintenance solution for their harsh slurry transfer and isolation applications.

Valmet implemented its Flowrox PVEG pinch valves, which feature a lightweight body, enclosed design, and a rubber sleeve as the only wetted part. After successful trials, the mine installed over 160 valves, supported by Flowrox hose pumps, across its tailings infrastructure. The Valmet solution significantly improved reliability, reduced downtime and maintenance needs, and lowered the total cost of ownership for the customer.
