N-ERGIE AG, a regional energy provider, faced challenges with its outdated and high-maintenance rate calculator for business customers. The previous system required manual data entry, led to redundancies, and was not integrated with the necessary external databases for calculating nationwide grid fees. To modernize its infrastructure and improve the process, N-ERGIE, via its subsidiary itecPlus GmbH, engaged vendor valantic to develop a new Java-based application for its IBM WebSphere portal environment.

valantic implemented a new JEE application that integrated web services for automated address validation and access to an external grid fee database (NetKalk). This included a central portlet for master data maintenance, eliminating manual processes. The solution provided an automated, Germany-wide quotation tool, significantly reducing data entry effort, improving data quality, and enabling faster quote generation for N-ERGIE's business customers.
